about

During the 1970s and early 1980s, Debbie Martínez (1959–2007) was a household name in the New Mexico music scene, serving as a role model for other young women who aspired to be successful musicians at a time when only men dominated the stage. Dubbed “La Chicanita” (The Little Chicana), Debbie Martínez’s presence was anything but small or juvenile. This album is a testament to the outstanding capabilities she possessed at such a young age. On this recording, Debbie’s robust voice is featured on songs arranged and directed by her brother Lorenzo.
